Who we work with.

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

mēkā is a product innovation agency. Our services range from early design and conceptualisation all the way up to full-scale engineering and manufacturing.

We serve a range of clients interested in hardware development and manufacturing. Here is a breakdown of 5 main groups of our clients.

  1. Solo Founders

  2. Research Labs

  3. Spin-offs from research institutions and other Startups

  4. Small and Medium Enterprises

  5. Multi-National Corporations

Solo Founders

Most solo founders come to us with an idea. We help them to really understand the problem and devise ways to test desirability, feasibility and viability. Sometimes, it's enough just to do some secondary research but at other times, we would need to identify users and stakeholders and design tests to get feedback.

For most solo founders, we serve as a valuable sounding board. Typically the founder is the nexus between investors, various design and technical teams, users and other stakeholders. Our multi-faceted team is able to provide advice and recommendations to help the founder bring their idea to life.

Research Labs

In Singapore, most of these girls and guys are from A*Star and the local universities. Sometimes, they need custom single-use robots, jigs, testing rigs and other equipment to run thousands and thousands of experiments. And who do they call? We've built lens stretching rigs all the way up to liquid handling machines for our friends in the research laboratories.

Spin-offs from research institutions and other Startups

Most spin-offs and startups are looking to move fast so they may not have the right talent on the team to see projects to completion. This is where mēkā comes in. We have designers, engineers and just the right mix of experience, curiosity and courageous to bring ideas and projects to life. We help them get past the initial hurdles of prototyping and testing all the way to small-scale production and manufacturing.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Small and Medium Enterprises are the lifeblood of any economy hence, our SME clients are very important to us. SMEs already have a thriving business in their respective sectors but in order to thrive and grow, they have to keep innovating. It can be costly and time-consuming building an in-house team for R&D and innovation, this is why SMEs turn to us for help. We work with SME founders and management to quickly and affordably test and bring ideas to market. This helps to reduce risk while increasing overall returns later on. The availability of grants and subsidies from the Singapore government also helps with defraying the cost of innovation.

Multi-National Corporations (MNCs)

For most MNCs, working with us allows them to move fast and concentrate on core aspects of their business. Our ability to design fast, make changes and build even faster has won praises from many of our corporate clients.

We are truly glad to be able to work across a variety of industries with businesses from small to large. We hope to continue this momentum and truly achieve our vision of making the world a better place, one innovation at a time.
